The Bells & Donuts workshop was a little different than our previous ones. We still got our hands a little dirty and definitely got creative, but this time it was in the name of charity. Our location for this event was at Ben’s Bells here in Downtown Tucson, and we partnered with Social Dogooder to promote this event.
Around the time of year that we held the workshop, most teachers start to run out of their school supplies. Since a lot of teachers have to pay out of pocket for their classroom supplies, we asked that everyone brought school supplies to be donated to a classroom. Once everyone came in and dropped off their supplies, we all gathered in the crafting room, where the tables were covered in creative supplies such as paints and brushes.
We started off with a quick welcome, and then a representative from Ben’s Bells led the workshop. He began by giving us a quick history of the organization, and then let us jump right into painting. Everyone was painting beads that would be just one part of the whole bell. We got as creative as we wanted to – painting all sorts of patterns and colors on the beads.
About half way through the workshop, and it was finally time for everyone to enjoy the donut bar! Yes, I said donut bar! There were towers of delicious donuts, fresh fruit kabobs, and plenty of refreshing beverages. Everyone helped themselves, and then it was back to work!
After a few hours of painting and chatting and filling ourselves up with donuts, everyone left with their own Social Dogooder t-shirt, and like always, they left with new friends too. By taking something so simple as painting beads for charity, people are able to come together to have face-to-face interactions while doing something that they love. That’s what Creative Tribe Workshop is all about!
