Transformative Learning: Digital Storytelling for Teachers
This professional development workshop for classroom teachers will support educators in crafting digital stories about their own transformative learning and teaching experiences.
Participants will learn the basics of digital story development and production. By the end of the workshop, each participant will have completed their own 2-3 minute video. Participating teachers will be asked to reflect on what learning experiences were transformative as a child, how that shapes their teaching, and how that informs their vision for the future of education and the role of the community in realizing that vision. These stories are intended to spark wider community engagement and conversation around how to collectively create an education system that ensures that all students and teachers have the resources and support to reach their full potential.

Illustrated Watercolor Map Workshop with Emma Gundlach
10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
During this workshop, you will be guided by a local illustrator and map-maker to design and watercolor your very own 8x11" map! Learn how to chart some of your favorite places in Tucson, a recent trip or a memory map of places you've loved.
Through a combination of text, illustrations, personal details (and a smidge of geography), you'll create a unique cartographic memento, all with the direction and guidance of our guest expert, Emma Gundlach.
Why a hand-drawn map? Google Maps may help us get where we're going, but hand-drawn maps help us remember where we've been. They're also the perfect personal touch for wedding invitations, moving announcements, and home decor!
All materials are included, in addition to refreshments and light bites to enjoy!
